Brief History

The School of Health Sciences, Niigata University was founded in 1999 under a ministerial ordinance. It was established in the Faculty of Medicine, Niigata University and has three departments: the Department of Nursing, the Department of Radiological Technology and the Department of Medical Technology.

The College of Biomedical Technology of Niigata University was established in June 1974 with three departments: the Department of Nursing, the Department of Radiological Technology and the Department of Medical Technology, by consolidation of the three schools: the Nursing School and the School of Laboratory Technology, both of which were attached to the Faculty of Medicine, Niigata University, and the Niigata Prefectural School of Radiology.

June 1974.
The College of Biomedical Technology of Niigata University was established.
April 1978.
The Advanced Course of Midwifery (formerly the Midwives’School) was established.
April 1983.
The new main buildings were completed and all the college departments were relocated to the new main buildings.
June 1984.
The 10th anniversary was celebrated.
December 1986.
The Exchange Agreement was made between the College of Biomedical Technology of Niigata University and its sister college, Chongju National Junior College, the Republic of Korea.
June 1994.
The 20th anniversary was celebrated.
October 1999.
The School of Health Sciences was establised in the Faculty of Medicine in Niigata University by uniting the three departments of Nursing, Radiological Technology and Medical Technology.
April 2004.
Master Course of graduate school of Health Sciences Niigata University was established.
April 2007.
Doctor Course of graduate school of Health Sciences Niigata University was established.
